Chicony NB-5620 notebook and related. This is an old 20MHz 3.86 based notebook with 640K of RAM capable to run a few retro games and stuff on its monochrome display. I used it frequently to play around with an LPT DAC.

- 3D in QBasic - Because you can! Running on my old Chicony NB 5620 brick laptop with a pathetic 4 FPS. The routines would use floating point for calculations while this laptop has no floating point coprocessor installed. On a 25MHz 4.86 with a VLB video card it could achieve full frame rate. The 3D area was meant to be "widescreen" on 640x350 which was made even narrower by the laptop's LCD.

- Looking right inside the Chicony NB 5620. The HDD is not the original: It was broken which I replaced with a Maxtor 110MB one salvaged from a completely ruined IBM 350c laptop. Originally it had a 20Mb Conner disk.

- Chicony NB 5620 with a fan installed on the PSU. The power supply unit of this laptop tends to get just too hot, so I decided to help it a little. At least it has venting holes so the fan can actually be effective.

- Patching the PSU with a fan for the Chicony NB 5620. It may not look a good idea to tape the thing to that transistor's heatsink, but actually it is not generating too much heat as I observed, so it works fine. It is not quite visible, but of course the surface of the metal was covered with a few layers of tape to insulate the resistor.
